Where the story begins
The modern British Shorthair grew out of Britain’s domestic cat population and became familiar at early cat shows. It is now seen in many colors and patterns, not just blue.
What to notice
A broad face, round eyes, sturdy body, and especially dense short coat give this breed its teddy-bear impression.
Personality & interaction
Often quiet and unhurried, British Shorthairs may enjoy being near people while keeping their own space. Many prefer sitting beside someone to being carried.
